Son Batá is a musical and cultural group from Medellín's Comuna 13, renowned for its role in the social transformation of this community through art and music. Founded in 2002 by Jhon Fredy "Sprint" Asprilla, Jhon Jaime "Capitán J" Sánchez, and Carlos Alberto Sánchez, known as "Nene," the group has been instrumental in providing creative alternatives for young people, steering them away from violence and offering new opportunities.

Son Batá's artistic proposal fuses Afro-Colombian rhythms with urban genres such as hip hop and rap, creating a unique sound that reflects the cultural richness of the Afro-Antioquian community. Beyond music, the group leads community projects such as Terrazas Verdes, an urban gardening initiative that transforms rooftops in marginalized neighborhoods into productive spaces, benefiting over 5,000 people and generating local employment.

For visitors interested in experiencing Comuna 13's vibrant nightlife, Son Batá offers immersive experiences that combine neighborhood tours with live musical performances. These tours allow tourists not only to enjoy music and dance but also to understand the community's story of resilience and transformation.

Participating in these activities enriches visitors' cultural experiences while supporting community projects that have been crucial in Comuna 13's revitalization. Son Batá continues to be a symbol of hope and positive change in Medellín, demonstrating the power of art to transform realities.
